Mechanical failure prevents charge through the field at Smoky Mountain Speedway
Fresh off his strong run at Talladega Short Track, Sam Seawright followed the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series to Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) on Saturday afternoon for the King of the Mountain.
Clocking in eighth-quickest in qualifying, Seawright finished third in his heat race which put him on the sixth-row for the 50-lap feature. With a $15,000 payday on the line, Sam started his charge towards the front and was running inside the Top-10 when his driveshaft broke with just five laps to go. Unable to finish the feature, Seawright was scored 24th.
Sam is currently sixth in the HTFSDS point standings.
