Seawright collects third-straight Winterfest triumph; Top-10 outing with World of Outlaws
Kicking off a busy weekend in the Volunteer State, Sam Seawright and the Troy Baird Racing team rolled into Smoky Mountain Speedway (Maryville, Tenn.) on Friday afternoon for the two-day Tennessee Tipoff with the World of Outlaws.
Stopping the clock sixth-fastest in their stacked qualifying group, Seawright made up one spot in his heat race and ran runner-up to earn a third-row starting spot in the 35-lap feature. Sam drove to a seventh-place outing in the $12,000-to-win main event.
Saturday's $15,000-to-win finale was called off due to the potential for severe weather.
Sam closed out his extended weekend with a visit to Duck River Raceway Park (Shelbyville, TN) on Sunday afternoon for the annual Winterfest event. Starting seventh in the 40-lap main event, Seawright quickly moved his way to the lead and grabbed the $6,025 payday. The victory marks his third-straight Winterfest victory at the track.
